There are 38 piers filled with concrete that will support this home and allow flood water to flow through in the event of severe weather.

Each pier has a specific pattern where anchor bolts must be placed in order to connect properly with the next level.

Garage Apartment Project

We built a garage apartment for Rob and Nicolle and this is what she had to say: Korman Builders lives by the old adage "say what you're going to do and then do it";  they did exactly what they said they were going to do.  Before the job started, Carol warned us Doug "overbuilds" (in a good way) and he really did.  If there was an easy way and a better way, Doug always chose the better way.  One thing we were leery about was the issue of change orders.  Being from NY we have had concerns that many contractors make up for a low bid with change orders or use the change order process to take advantage of the client.  Not Doug.  He was always fair with change order pricing.  We never felt taken advantage of or that we were treated anything but fairly.  Doug built our garage/apartment as if he were building for himself.  It was absolutely perfect.  You won't meet anyone more honest, hardworking, or trustworthy as Doug.  I highly recommend Korman Builders.  We can't wait for him to build our home when we retire, or sooner.

Doug volunteers for Habitat for Humanity now and then. Here he is helping a group of college students with grass seeding and then setting a donated shed in place in Lancaster, Virginia.

New Stairs

Korman Builders was asked to replace failing steps into a local doctors office in Kilmarnock, Lancaster County VA. A building permit was obtained, old brick steps removed and new entrance completed within two weeks.

Storm Damage Response

This home received severe storm damage April 17th when the chimney crashed through the roof of an addition and blew out the patio door. Korman builders responded and covered the opening that same evening. Structural engineers condemned the addition which we removed four days later.

Korman Builders, LLC was established by husband and wife team, Doug and Carol Korman, on the Northern Neck of Virginia in the Spring of 2005.
Before moving to Virginia, we operated a successful business in Ohio for ten years.  Experience for these ventures was gained over a twenty year period in the Trades.  Doug's family, going back several generations, has worked in the construction industry.
